Workshop on Medical Waste Management
Under the guidance of Principal Dr. Iqbal Shaikh, Vice Principal Dr. Amjad Shaikh and Mr. Farooque Shaikh Nodal officer of B.Voc .The Department of B.Voc Medical Laboratory Technology organized a Workshop on Medical Waste Management on February 5, 2025. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of proper waste management in healthcare settings and its impact on the environment.
The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Shaan Ansari, a FY B.Voc MLT student, which set a thoughtful tone for the seminar. Vice Principal Dr. Amjad Shaikh addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significance of waste management in daily life. He highlighted the need for responsible waste disposal practices to prevent environmental pollution and promote sustainability.
Vice Principal Dr. Amjad Shaikh also felicitated the guest speaker, Dr. ManikPrabhu Dhanorkar, with flowers, as a token of appreciation for his expertise and valuable insights.
Dr. Dhanorkar, Director of Symbiosis centre for waste resource management Lavle campus Pune, delivered an informative presentation on waste management, highlighting the need to manage medical, e-waste, and household waste to promote environmental sustainability and development. He stressed the importance of taking responsibility for waste management to preserve the environment for future generations. Additionally, he provided practical tips on managing waste at home and making it reusable, which sparked interesting discussions among the attendees.
Dr. Dhanorkar's recent projects showcased entrepreneurial spirit and provided inspiring examples of how to become a successful entrepreneur in the field of waste management. His presentation encouraged students to think creatively about waste management solutions and their potential applications.
The event was organized by Dr. Gazala Pathan, Assistant Professor, B.Voc MLT, who worked tirelessly to ensure the Workshop's success. Shahin Shaikh, Assistant Professor, B.Voc MLT, presented the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the guest speaker, organizers, and attendees. Ms. Farheenshama Shaikh served as the master of ceremonies, skillfully coordinating the program's flow.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Nikhat Hurzuk and Mr. Mudassir Shaikh for their invaluable background support, which contributed significantly to the Workshop's smooth execution. We also thank all faculty members for their contributions to making this Workshop a success.
A total of 110 students participated in the Workshop, gaining valuable insights into the importance of medical waste management and its impact on the environment. The workshop's success reflects the department's commitment to promoting awareness about critical environmental issues and inspiring students to become responsible stewards of the planet.
