National Science Day
On the occasion of National Science Day, the B.Voc MLT Department of Poona College
organized a seminar titled “Science and Social Responsibilities.” The seminar was held at
10:00 a.m. on the Poona College campus and witnessed enthusiastic participation from
students.
The seminar was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Gazala Pathan, whose meticulous planning,
dedication, and continuous efforts ensured the smooth execution of the entire program. From
conceptualizing the theme to managing the schedule and guiding the speakers, her leadership
played a vital role in making the seminar informative and well-organized. Her commitment
towards academic enrichment and student development was clearly reflected in the success of
the event.
whose constant encouragement and visionary leadership inspire the department to conduct
such meaningful academic activities. His support in promoting scientific temperament and
social awareness among students greatly contributed to the successful organization of the
seminar. Special appreciation is also extended to the Nodal Officer, Dr. Farooq Shaikh, for his
valuable cooperation and support.
The seminar featured three insightful sessions by the faculty members:
Ms. Farheen Shaikh delivered a talk on “Women in Science – Breaking Barriers,”
highlighting the remarkable contributions of women scientists and emphasizing the
importance of equal opportunities in scientific fields.
Ms. Shahin Shaikh presented on “Science and Society,” explaining the interconnection
between scientific advancements and societal development, and stressing the ethical
responsibilities of science professionals.
Ms. Nikhat Hurzuk spoke on “Artificial Intelligence – Revolution or Risk,” discussing the
rapid growth of artificial intelligence, its applications in healthcare and research, and the
potential risks and ethical concerns associated with its use.
The seminar also included an interactive question-and-answer session, where students
actively engaged with the speakers, clarified their doubts, and shared their views. This
interaction made the session more lively, informative, and thought-provoking.
A total of 43 students benefitted from this academic initiative. The seminar concluded on a
positive and inspiring note, making it a meaningful celebration of National Science Day .
