Blood Donation Camp

The Blood Donation Camp, organized by the B.Voc MLT department in collaboration with the NSS Unit of Poona College and Sassoon Blood Bank, took place on 28th September 2024 in the Indoor Sports Arena of Poona College. This initiative aimed to encourage students and staff to donate blood and contribute to a noble cause. The camp was inaugurated in the presence of Principal Dr. Iqbal Shaikh and Vice Principal Dr. Amjad Shaikh, whose support added great value to the event. Their encouraging words highlighted the importance of blood donation as a vital act of social responsibility .

Coordinators Dr. Akbar Sayyed and Ms. Shahin Shaikh meticulously handled the logistics, ensuring that the entire process—from registration to donation—was well-managed and efficient. The event also saw the active involvement of Nodal Officer of B.Voc, Mr. Farooq Shaikh ; Mrs. Ghazala Pathan, and Ms. Farheen Shaikh, who played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the camp. B.Voc MLT students and NSS volunteers worked tirelessly to assist both the organizers and donors, providing help in various capacities such as guiding participants, managing registration desks, and ensuring proper health checks before donation. Their enthusiasm and dedication significantly contributed to the success of the camp.

A total of 28 people registered for the camp, out of which 20 successfully donated blood. The remaining participants were unfortunately rejected due to health reasons, primarily being underweight. However, the overall turnout was commendable, with all participants showing a strong willingness to contribute to saving lives.

This collaborative effort between the B.Voc MLT department, NSS volunteers, and Sassoon Blood Bank not only raised awareness about the need for regular blood donation but also created a sense of unity and social responsibility among the students and staff of Poona College. It was a significant step toward promoting community health and wellbeing.
