Visit to the KEM Hospital


11th August, 2023: The B.VOC MLT Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a two day visit to the KEM hospital along with faculty member Ms. Shaheen Shaikh and Ms. Farheenshama Shaikh with a batch of 25 students each day.

The visit started at 11:00 am from college. We reached around 11:50 am. At the reception we were welcomed by the team member of Pathology laboratory. We introduce our students and team member introduced herself and other member to the students. A group of 5 students was made and then visit to different department of pathology lab. A detailed explanation regarding each department, sample collection, testing was given during the visit. Our first batch of student started from Haematology department where detailed explanation and demonstration of DXH 800 cell counter and Coagulation Elite machine was given by Mr Dnyaneshwar.

Next department we saw was Biochemistry where information’s regarding sample running, calibration, internal quality control and external quality control on Archi machine was given by the staff member.

Moving forward we have seen Microbiology department where our students get to know more about culture, media preparation, staining procedures and SOP for handling instruments and working, all these details was given by the team members of the microbiology department. The same pattern was followed on both days.

This visit was conducted under the able guidance of Ms. Shaheen Shaikh and Ms. Farheenshama Shaikh. The visit was a great success due to the efforts from KEM hospital Pathology laboratory staff and co ordination of  B.Voc. (MLT) students.

The main objective of industrial visit was to bridge gap between classroom teaching and practical working environment and to bring in some positive intangible changes to the personalities of students which results from industrial visit.

                                                  National Girl Child Day Celebration Under the able guidance of the Principal Prof. Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh, Poona College of arts science and commerce (Bachelor of vocation) conducted activities on the occasion of National Girl Child Day On 24th January 2024   The day was celebrated with enthusiasm at our institution, bringing together 90 students to partake in various activities aimed at fostering a sense of community and empowerment.                                                      Visit to the Jehangir Hospital 2 nd September, 2023: The B.VOC MLT Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a visit to the Jehangir hospital along with faculty member Ms. Shaheen Shaikh and Ms. Farheenshama Shaikh with a batch of 32 students. The visit started at 11:30 am. At the reception we were guided by the team member of pathology laboratory Mr Sudhir where we introduce our students and divided into a group of 10 students and visited the different departments of hospital. The department includes pathology lab (Haematology, Clinical, Biochemistry, and Immunology), Histopathology, Microbiology and Blood bank. A detailed explanation regarding each department, sample collection, testing was given during the visit. Our first batch of students started from Blood bank. Mrs. Uma explained the information’s about FFP, SDP, and RDP separation also about machine, temperature, and storage of the separated blood bags.
