Visit to the Kamla Nehru Hospital


REPORT: Industrial visit (Kamla Nehru Hospital)

National Youth Day, also known as Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, was celebrated on 12th January, 2024 in Kamla Nehru Hospital Organized by a team of doctors in collaboration with Sassoon Govt. hospital, and the program was supported by the Government of India (GoI). It was around seventy students of the B. Voc. (MLT) have participated in this program. Some reputed doctors from local government hospitals were invited to this program, and they offered their voluntary service whole-heartedly.

 

A large number of medical students, faculty members, patients, and some local NGO volunteers actively participated in the day activity. The program started at about 10:00 am with the felicitation of the Chief guest and Guest of honors. Activities such as an exhibition of charts, and models, and health-promoting types of equipment, debates, and plays on the theme of healthy habits for youth were organized by the medical students of the government colleges. Dr. Bhagyashree Salunke has elaborated to students about HIV/AIDS, the strain of JN1 Virus, and other cancer-like dreaded diseases, and how they can protect themselves from these diseases.

 

  




Students also visited the hospital pathology lab and Krushna diagnostics well-equipped lab and explored their concept knowledge about the instruments. The laboratory instructors/technicians also explained future perspectives in MLT.

 

The program visit was guided under the able leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Aftab Anwar Shaikh, Principal and Dr. Iqbal Shaikh, Vice Principal. The educational visit was organized and managed by B. Voc. (MLT) staff, Dr. Vinod Parde, Ms. Farheen Shaikh, and Ms. Shahin Shaikh.

                                                     Visit to the Jehangir Hospital 2 nd September, 2023: The B.VOC MLT Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a visit to the Jehangir hospital along with faculty member Ms. Shaheen Shaikh and Ms. Farheenshama Shaikh with a batch of 32 students. The visit started at 11:30 am. At the reception we were guided by the team member of pathology laboratory Mr Sudhir where we introduce our students and divided into a group of 10 students and visited the different departments of hospital. The department includes pathology lab (Haematology, Clinical, Biochemistry, and Immunology), Histopathology, Microbiology and Blood bank. A detailed explanation regarding each department, sample collection, testing was given during the visit. Our first batch of students started from Blood bank. Mrs. Uma explained the information’s about FFP, SDP, and RDP separation also about machine, temperature, and storage of the separated blood bags.
