Seminar by Dr. Sangeeta Gawali, on Human Physiology – The mother of medicine


Professor (Dr.) Sangeeta Gawali,  (MD, PhD, and PGDHA) , HOD, Department of Physiology, BJ Government Medical College and Sassoon Hospital, Pune has conducted a Guest Seminar on the aspect of HUMAN PHYSIOLOGY - The Mother of Medicine for B. Voc. - Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) students on 31st OCT., 2023.

 

Dr. Gawali explained the concept points of basic sciences of Human Physiology which will have to be studied in pursuit of their MLT degree program. A Physiologist is one who has to study the physical, chemical, and biochemical processes by which a living organism functions. Professor Gawali said the study of Human Physiology places greater emphasis on medical professionals. Study of different organs, organ systems, processes taking place, and biochemical reactions that stimulate the specific organ to process a certain task. In clinical studies, MLT students can learn the basics of medical diagnosis, therapeutics, and all of the variations within different fields of medicine. 

 

Dr. Gawali also gave a brief introduction about BJ Medical College and elaborated on the future aspects of students for their master's program.

 

The program was guided under the able leadership of Principal Prof (Dr.) Aftab Anwar Shaikh and Dr. Iqbal Shaikh, Vice-Principal . The program was adequately supported by Mr. Farooque Shaikh, Nodal Officer B. Voc., and staff of MLT Ms. Farheen Shaikh did the anchoring of the program and also introduced the guest speaker, and Ms. Shahin Shaikh, expressed a vote of thanks and technical support was provided by Mr. Mudassir Shaikh. It was around 81 students attended this guest seminar. The program was organized and managed by Dr. Vinod Parde, Coordinator, B. Voc. (MLT).

                                                  National Girl Child Day Celebration Under the able guidance of the Principal Prof. Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh, Poona College of arts science and commerce (Bachelor of vocation) conducted activities on the occasion of National Girl Child Day On 24th January 2024   The day was celebrated with enthusiasm at our institution, bringing together 90 students to partake in various activities aimed at fostering a sense of community and empowerment.                                                      Visit to the Jehangir Hospital 2 nd September, 2023: The B.VOC MLT Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a visit to the Jehangir hospital along with faculty member Ms. Shaheen Shaikh and Ms. Farheenshama Shaikh with a batch of 32 students. The visit started at 11:30 am. At the reception we were guided by the team member of pathology laboratory Mr Sudhir where we introduce our students and divided into a group of 10 students and visited the different departments of hospital. The department includes pathology lab (Haematology, Clinical, Biochemistry, and Immunology), Histopathology, Microbiology and Blood bank. A detailed explanation regarding each department, sample collection, testing was given during the visit. Our first batch of students started from Blood bank. Mrs. Uma explained the information’s about FFP, SDP, and RDP separation also about machine, temperature, and storage of the separated blood bags.
