Seminar by Dr. S S Khedkar, on  blood bank field and future perspective


26th October, 2023: On 26th OCT, 2023 (Thursday), Dr. S S Khedkar, Director, Regional Blood Bank from Sassoon Government Hospital, guided B. Voc. (MLT) students under the theme of Awareness in Blood Bank Field and future perspective.

 

He has elaborated many concept points to students such as the management of day-to-day activities of the blood bank, coordinating with various departments in the hospital regarding their blood requisitions, liaising with leading Blood Banks of Pune City to fulfill hospital requirements, and attending inspections by concerned authorities (FDA) and resolved their queries.


Dr. Khedkar has also given emphasis on how to collect, store, test, and issue safe blood to needy patients. Additionally, he said, it is required to generate awareness amongst society about voluntary blood donation through organizing activities such as lectures, workshops, seminars, and hoardings.


Moreover, Dr. Khedkar has committed to students to provide regional blood bank support for internships, jobs, and the supply of rare blood group bags for needy patients of students' families.











The program was guided under the able leadership of Principal Prof (Dr.) Aftab Anwar Shaikh and Dr. Iqbal Shaikh, Vice-Principal. The program was adequately supported by Mr. Farooque Shaikh, Nodal Officer B. Voc., and staff of MLT Ms. Farheen Shaikh, and Ms. Shahin Shaikh, and the technical support was provided by Mr. Mudassir Shaikh. The program was organized and managed by Dr. Vinod Parde, Coordinator, B. Voc. (MLT).

                                                  National Girl Child Day Celebration Under the able guidance of the Principal Prof. Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh, Poona College of arts science and commerce (Bachelor of vocation) conducted activities on the occasion of National Girl Child Day On 24th January 2024   The day was celebrated with enthusiasm at our institution, bringing together 90 students to partake in various activities aimed at fostering a sense of community and empowerment.                                                      Visit to the Jehangir Hospital 2 nd September, 2023: The B.VOC MLT Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a visit to the Jehangir hospital along with faculty member Ms. Shaheen Shaikh and Ms. Farheenshama Shaikh with a batch of 32 students. The visit started at 11:30 am. At the reception we were guided by the team member of pathology laboratory Mr Sudhir where we introduce our students and divided into a group of 10 students and visited the different departments of hospital. The department includes pathology lab (Haematology, Clinical, Biochemistry, and Immunology), Histopathology, Microbiology and Blood bank. A detailed explanation regarding each department, sample collection, testing was given during the visit. Our first batch of students started from Blood bank. Mrs. Uma explained the information’s about FFP, SDP, and RDP separation also about machine, temperature, and storage of the separated blood bags.
