DAY 1:26.08.25

On August 26, 2025, at 12:00 pm, the Department of B.Voc Medical Laboratory Technology organized an industrial visit to Diagnostica Span Pathology Laboratory. This visit provided students with a valuable opportunity to gain practical insights into the functioning of a pathology laboratory and understand the application of theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting.

The visit was meticulously planned and coordinated by Ms. Farheenshama Shaikh, with support from Dr. Gazala Pathan and Ms. Shahin Shaikh. Due to the laboratory's guidelines, only 25 students were allowed to participate in the visit, ensuring a personalized and interactive experience.

 Key Highlights of the Visit:

Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by the Diagnostica Span team. Mr. Amit Khot, a key representative from the laboratory, provided an in-depth tour of the various departments, including:

1. Blood Collection: Students learned about the proper techniques for collecting blood samples, handling patient samples, and maintaining sample integrity.

2. Hematology: Mr. Khot explained the working principles of hematology analyzers, including cell counting and differential analysis.

3. Biochemistry: Students gained insights into the analysis of biochemical parameters, such as liver and kidney function tests, using advanced automated analyser.

4. Immunology: The students were introduced to immunological testing, including ELISA and other serological assays.

5. Clinical Pathology: Mr. Khot discussed the role of clinical pathology in disease diagnosis and management, highlighting the importance of laboratory testing in patient care.

During the visit, Mr. Amit Khot also demonstrated the operation of various laboratory instruments, emphasizing the importance of proper handling, calibration, and maintenance. He shared valuable insights into laboratory safety protocols, quality control measures, and the significance of adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs).

 Impact on Students:

The visit had a profound impact on the students, as it:

1. Bridged the gap between theory and practice: Students witnessed the practical application of theoretical concepts, enhancing their understanding of medical laboratory technology.

2. Highlighted industry expectations: The visit emphasized the importance of technical skills, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols in a laboratory setting.

3. Inspired students: Interacting with laboratory professionals and witnessing the latest technology in action motivated students to pursue excellence in their field.

Special Acknowledgments:

The success of the visit was largely due to the efforts of several individuals:

1. Dr. Shirish Pophalikar: Played a pivotal role in arranging and facilitating the visit, ensuring a smooth and enriching experience for the students.
